Join us in protecting one of Australia's most beloved animals. Koalas are facing unprecedented threats to their survival, and with your help, we can ensure they thrive for generations to come.
Learn MoreKoalas live in eucalyptus forests and woodlands of eastern Australia. They spend most of their time in trees and rarely come down to the ground.
Koalas are herbivores that feed almost exclusively on eucalyptus leaves. They can eat up to 1 kg of leaves per day but only from about 30 of the 600+ eucalyptus species.
Major threats include habitat loss due to deforestation, bushfires, urban development, climate change, and disease. Car strikes and dog attacks also pose significant risks.
Koala populations have declined by over 60% in the last 20 years. There are estimated to be fewer than 80,000 koalas left in the wild.
Koalas sleep 18-22 hours per day! This helps them conserve energy since eucalyptus leaves are low in nutrition and hard to digest.
Baby koalas (joeys) are born only 2cm long and live in their mother's pouch for 6-7 months. They then ride on mom's back for another 6 months.
Your donation helps fund koala research, habitat protection, and rescue operations.
